Additional Star Trek: Insurrection Information

There's not much in the way of surprises in Jerry Goldsmith's fourth score for the Star Trek feature-film cycle (and second for the Next Generation incarnation), which isn't to say it's not a finely crafted piece of robust, action-adventure boilerplate. Unfortunately, the genre has come to rely on an orchestral palette that's about as subtle as a Klingon temper tantrum; divorced from its striking images and spectacular stunt sequences, it's often as inviting as Mahler on a Monday morning. Still, Goldsmith manages touches here that are as close to pastoral as the conventions allow, bookended by enough Wagnerian Sturm und Drang to push our Federation heroes on to victory once again. Goldsmith is responsible for some of the most inventive sci-fi and horror scores of the past 40 years (Planet of the Apes, the Omen trilogy, and The Twilight Zone among them), and the Trek cycle seems well enough entrenched for the producers to allow the composer at least as much adventure as they do the crew of the Enterprise. --Jerry McCulley

What Customers Say About Star Trek: Insurrection:

Purchased this CD for my husband who listens to it regularly and enjoys it very much.

Other music that should have been included is when Picard beams down in the evening and walks with the female star of the Ba'ku and when Picard meets LaForge on a bridge looking at the sunrise. But as other reviews state the holoship suite when Data is walking underwater should have been added. I really loved this movie and the soundtrack is a worthy effort. The intro theme is fantastic and rolls into the peaceful and relaxing Ba'ku village theme.

There are softer, quieter moments that deliver fascinating soundscapes for the mind and soul. Composed and conducted by Jerry Goldsmith, the selections deliver a pastoral poem to coincide with the timeless theme in the movie.Ba'Ku Village, The Drones Attack and The Riker Maneuver and No Threat are the keys to subtly propelling the nearly 45 minutes for the 11 total numbers.

They are the best. this is the work of belated Jerry Goldsmith and he wwas the master of the music in star trek. I just love listening to his star trek soundtracks.

While this has some good tracks, it was purchased solely for the Baku village track, which is a delightful piece, and well worth listening to, especially if you're feeling a bit stressed.I obviously felt it was worth buying for that track alone, so if you liked the film, (which I did enjoy), but maybe can't remember what the music was like, try to borrow a copy to listen to first, before you splash your hard earned cash.
